Missouri says ‘Kill ‘em all, let God sort ‘em out!’

Finally, a reason for me to be proud of a government decision in my home state of Missouri! The legislature made an incredibly correct ruling on home protection, and what that means to we Missourians.
The new law stipulates that “people are not required to retreat from an intruder and can use deadly force once the person illegally enters their home, vehicle or other dwelling, including a tent. The bill provides an absolute defense against being charged or sued for using such force.” What does that mean? It means if some jackass enters my home, car, or even a tent (I’m going camping next week – those pesky Boy Scouts better watch out!), I can immediately shoot them dead, and start asking questions later. I’ve been trying to convince the missus that we should have a gun in the house for protection, and this law is just the reason why.
Why is this big news? Most states require an occupant to be in immediate danger before shooting an intruder, and must have probably cause that they were in physical danger. This law takes the interview process out of the way, so the bad guy can have his judgment. Now, I’m not foolhardy enough to believe that this law really makes a difference, because I think that most people that are willing and able to shoot an intruder would do so with or without this law. They already have a gun in the home, and would be quick to use it. But, what this law really does is release them from arrest and civil court from the “victim’s” family. How bad can it get that first your are attacked, you kill the attacker, and then have to pay his wife or baby-mama a million dollars for your action?
This is a good law, and I applaud the Missouri government for pasisng it. I can’t wait for the first time I hear on the news that a would-be car-jacker is blown away on the corner of 8th and Pine. That man (or woman) will be a hero in my mind. One less bad guy on this planet is never a bad thing.
