PETA is a terrible organization.
Not because of what they stand for in principle. I think just about everyone (the Michael Vick’s of the world notwithstanding) can agree that people shouldn’t harm animals for anything other than the basics like food and clothing and stuff. Hell, that’s why animals are put on this earth — to feed, clothe, and work for people. But it’s the message, and the hard-line stance that has most people thinking PETA is nothing more than an insane asylum.
Ingrid Newkirk (Interestingly enough, I had a pet dog named Newkirk growing up. By all definitions, she was a bitch, too.), the president and founder of PETA, was on the NBC Today Show talking about the Mike Vick hoopla. She was very good at explaining that dog-fighting is bad, and it’s not the same as hunting deer (which the spokesperson related dog fighting too). Hell, that’s easy to explain. Dog fighting is bad. We all get that. What she couldn’t explain was why PETA had condemned Vick as soon as the story broke, before he announced he would plead guilty to the charges. Of course, we all knew Vick was an asshole, but we’re individuals who have every right to have an opinion, informed or otherwise. PETA is a national organization, with considerable political clout, who uses their position to pounce on the charged in order to influence public opinion.

Penn & Teller did a show on PETA and Newkirk:
Penn and Teller showily throw this notion out the window. On tonight’s episode, they compare PETA co-founder and president Ingrid Newkirk to Adolf Hitler, cutting from shots of Newkirk at an animal rights conference to stock footage of Hitler’s youth. “Cheap shot?” says Penn in the narration. “Well, you bet it is. It’s beneath us, but we’re not the first to use the Nazi analogy.” The show then takes PETA to task for its 2003 “Holocaust on Your Plate” action campaign, which juxtaposed images from concentration camps with images of industrial meat processing.
Other Newkirk atrocities:
– she has compared animals in the Western world to slaves. There are still millions of human slaves in the world today. The US has a dark history of slavery. Do you really want to equate that worldwide shame … to chickens? (thanks Penn for the quote)
– PETA, run by Newkirk, supports criminal behavior. Using PETA’s public tax records, PETA is linked to Rodney Coronado, who admitted to firebombing a Michigan State University lab that used animals in its research.
– In her will, she has directed that her skin be turned into wallets, her feet into umbrella stands, and her flesh into “Newkirk Nuggets” then grilled on a barbecue. OK, that’s not an atrocity. I think that is a great idea. Maybe they can sell her crap on eBay. But there’s no way in hell I’m eating a Newkirk Nugget. Not even with honey sauce.
Hypocrisy is the mother of all credibility problems, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has it in spades. While loudly complaining about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, the group has its own dirty little secret. PETA kills animals. By the thousands.
From July 1998 through the end of 2005, PETA killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other “companion animals” — at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. That’s more than five defenseless animals every day. Not counting the dogs and cats PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005 alone. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing. This chick is a complete ass, who is more interested in publicity and millions than her “cause.” She has stated that it isn’t worth 10 animal lives to save 10,000 people from a disease. We should just release her into the wilds of Africa, surrounded by nothing more than the wildlife, and let her live with her “cause.” THAT, my friends, would be Reality TV worth watching.
Hunting Deer and Killing dogs are two different things. It is sad that hunting has to be brought into this.

Ingrid Newkirk and her organization are literally the kings and queens of “spin doctors”. They champion animal rights, yet have killed countless animals themselves. They want to eliminate the use of animals as food, which has lierally existed since humans came to live on this earth. Newkirk has even expressed the desire to eliminate “pets”–instead “freeing” animals to live in their natual wild state. This women is one crazy bitch, and her accompanying organization is dangerous andspouts constant, uninformed (or simply made-up) untruths.
Worse than that. In the US they are largely non-violent. In Europe and Australia, they kill researchers; they kidnap researchers children, douse them in blood, and drop them off on their doorsteps. They’re nothing short of a terrorist organization. Like the Christian Coalition.

They stated that PETA is really against doing animal testing, even to save people’s lives. Then when Ingrid got something (I don’t remember what it was…diabetes??) and the only way for her to remain living was to take the only medicine offered for her condition (insulin?). And guess what, that medicine was tested on animals (or had animal in it). She accepted the medicine saying that she needed to save her own life so that she could keep saving the animals’ lives. hahahhahahaha

Last year this organization held my office “hostage” for a week, staging mock executions of a giant Easter Bunny to condemn my company of supporting the death of lab mice in prostate cancer research (run-on sentence… yeah, yeah, yeah). Out of this group on 30 or so individuals, I’d say over 60% of them were wearing leather shoes and belts. When I asked one of the ring-leaders this innocent question I was told there is a special place in hell for people like me. I asked if it were the same special place he’d be going for wearing those spiffy leather loafers. I got no answer. Yep, Ingrid’s got a great group of hypocrites working for her. She and her minion almost make Brittney look sane!
I think that you are wrong. If you say that she is doing this for the publicity and for the millions and that she should be put in the wild, thats not a good point. She has the power, PEOPLE have the power to control what happens to animals. We should treat them with the respect that they need. The only reason why there is animal cruelty, is becuase humans are the dominant species and animals are defenseless. WE are ABUSING that power. Put it to use somewhere else. Not towards our fellow mammals that are from the same Kingdom Animalia.

As I was reading your comment, I assumed you were about a 12 year old pimply faced boy who only knew PETA by their anti-fur ads with beautiful naked women, and was going to give you a pass.
