Wilma Mankiller, woman dead.

Wilma Mankiller, whose life encapsulated some of the traditions and the changes that are part of contemporary Native American culture, died on Tuesday. She was 64.

In 1985, Mankiller became the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation, a position she held for a decade. As chief, she headed the Tribal Council, the ruling body of the 72,000-member Cherokee Nation, and was principal guardian of Cherokee customs and traditions.

Mankiller served as the chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1985 to 1995. In 1998, President Clinton awarded her the Medal of Freedom, America’s highest civilian honor.

John Forsythe, best known as Blake Carrington in ‘Dynasty’ and the voice of Charlie in Charlie’s Angels, passed on April 1st at the age of 92. It was pneumonia (which set in after a year long battle with cancer) that got him.

Die For My Benefit, Gabe, Joel, and One Deadbeat Off each scored with this death. Die For My Benefit and One Deadbeat Off had their Ghoulpool cherry popped by Blake. Not too shabby, I guess.

April 1 Waiver Wire Results

Just over half of the players took advantage of the waiver wire this quarter, which surprises me because of the huge amount of news and reports on one very famous actor seemingly on his death bed. I would have thought that almost everyone would send in a change to get those almost guaranteed points. But, to be fair, you have to have someone you are OK with dropping in order to pick someone up.
