Well, the results are in, and I guess the biggest takeaway was there was no real clear-cut news story this quarter about someone very famous dying. No Dennis Hopper story, no huge celebrity like Patrick Swayze on the verge of death. A few tidbits here and there, but there was enough for a little activity.
Without any more delay, here are the actions that took place at midnight. The lists have all been updated, and we’re ready for more celebs to start dropping. Read more... (233 words, estimated 56 secs reading time)

Just over half of the players took advantage of the waiver wire this quarter, which surprises me because of the huge amount of news and reports on one very famous actor seemingly on his death bed. I would have thought that almost everyone would send in a change to get those almost guaranteed points. But, to be fair, you have to have someone you are OK with dropping in order to pick someone up. The lists are posted, the standings are current (in a massive 36-way tie for first place), and we are green lighted for GO! Check out the links to see who picked whom.
A couple of things for all:
1. Although I am very good at being the harbinger of death, occasionally I do miss a death announcement or two. So – please be vigilant of your list, and send me a note when one of your celebs kicks the bucket. That will guarantee you get the points you so well deserve. Read more... Here we are, half way through the year. Remember just a couple weeks ago when I was complaining and bitching about so few deaths in the game? Wow, does that seem like a long time ago!! With five scored deaths in the past eight days – Ed McMahon, Jerri Neilsen, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and Karl Malden – it certainly seems as if business is picking up! If Grim Reaper can keep this pace going, I wouldn’t mind if he started focusing on the A-List of Annoying Celebrities like Britney Spears and Kate Gosselin (and that damned haircut!), plus a few high rankers like Swayze and Cronkite… We could all be happy! All Ghoulpoolers… As more and more news comes out about Michael Jackson’s death, we at Ghoulpool will be keeping an eye on it and how it affects scoring. Final points will be determined based on the OFFICIAL cause of death. So while it may come out as OD or whatever, points may be adjusted. But, if it comes out as heart attack, brought on by exhaustion/drugs/bulimia/blowing Bubbles, then the heart attack cause would still be natural causes.
Just a note to clear anything up.

Several moves occurred in people’s lists, with a few names you would expect and a few surprises.
Interestingly enough, no one was dropped more than once. However, a few questionable drops (in my opinion only), including Steve Jobs and Nancy Reagan. For the additions, Johnny-come-lately rjs added Patrick Swayze, putting Swayze in a 3-way tie for most popular by being on 19 lists along with Kirk Douglas and Ted Kennedy. Ed McMahon was added twice (and almost three times but I subbed Chuck Daly at the last minute), bringing him to be on five lists. Ricky Stone was scarfed from Go Fish’s list by Jeff, as was Bob Sheppard being stolen from Jeff’s list by Joel. And with recent cancer related news for Peter Tork, Don Imus, and Ruth Ginsberg, it’s no surprise some players took advantage. For the 9th consecutive year, Ghoulpool.us will be as fun and rewarding as a game about dead people can be. And by my account, that’s a lot of fun!
Start getting your lists ready for submission, and go for the gusto. With a new pricing option allowing 3 lists for the price of 2, there’s no reason that you won’t get a bunch of dead people this year. And, well, that’s kind of the point. Read more... (296 words, estimated 1:11 mins reading time)

The final waiver wire picks are in, and thanks to all that made a change. And of course, this quarter’s changes are not without controversy.
The most dropped person this quarter? Louis Farrakhan should be smiling a little broader this morning, as two professional death pickers decided he will live at least until 2009. So, he’s got that going for him. Read more... (304 words, estimated 1:13 mins reading time)
